An established favorite among the Tudor range and in production for many years. While embodying the traditional patterns and facets of classic stemware, Latimer has a somewhat geometrical shape and is thus attractive to those who combine a taste for wine with an eye for line. All the variants of size and shape which typify the Tudor range. LATIMER, HUGH - clerical martyr of Henry VIlI's time who became Bishop of Worcester. Tricked into resigning his bishopric by Cromwell, Latimer was burned at the stake at Oxford in 1555. As the execution flames rose round him, Latimer declaimed the immortal words: ". .we shall this day light such a candle in England as shall never be put out". Click here to return to the list
